How to play Gurugram Life

Gurugram Life runs in the browser. Open gurugramlife.com, choose English, Hindi or Haryanvi, type a name, make your avatar and pick where to start.

Controls on a phone

Left joystick to walk (push it all the way to run). Drag on the right side to look around. Buttons: Jump (NOS in a car), Punch, Gaadi (get in or out of a vehicle), Action when something is nearby, and Menu for everything else. Tap the small stats card for health, food and XP.

Controls on a laptop

W A S D move, Shift run (NOS in a car), Space jump (handbrake drift in a car), left-click or Q punch, E action, F get in or out of a car, Tab menu, M 3D map, T chat. Click the game once to look with the mouse; Esc frees the mouse.

Earn money fast

• You start with an empty pocket. Bade Kaam (Menu → Bade Kaam) pay the most: ₹1,500 for the first, ₹1 lakh for the last.
• Aaj ke kaam: three quick tasks every game day (15 minutes); two of them unlock the next level.
• Chalo cab rides and Jhatpat deliveries pay per trip.
• Office shifts at TechNova Towers in DLF Cyber City.
• Street races and the dangal at Leisure Valley akhara.
• City events: be among the first three to reach the baraat, Holi or the dropped money bag.

Get a car

Walk up to any car on the road and press Action to pull the driver out. Beat him and the car is yours for the ride (the police may chase you). Or buy your own at the NH-48 Auto Mile showrooms.

Sapno ka Shehar: the main story

You arrive at Rajiv Chowk off a Haryana Roadways bus with an empty pocket and a bag, and your first night is on the footpath. Seven Bade Kaam (big jobs) take you up the ladder, each one a new home, free: a shift at Chaudhary Filling Station with a customer who runs without paying, collecting a debt from Pappu Paaji and outrunning the police, stealing a black Thar from Cyber Hub, defending the pump from Kallu Kaanpur's shooters with your gang, escorting a land dealer through an ambush, a cash run past police nakas, and the showdown with Dalal Bhai. The homes: Sharma PG, a 1BHK in Sector 14, a 2BHK in Sushant Lok, a penthouse on Golf Course Road, a kothi on Golf Course Extension and a farmhouse in Bhondsi. Each home has its own interior, and every session starts there. Five dreams keep you going (Menu → Sapne): a lavish home, a lavish car, a jeevansathi, money and jewellery. Once you have a 2BHK and a car, Mausi ji calls with a rishta: meet at the Cyber Hub cafe, take a long drive to Leisure Valley, buy the ring at Goyal Jewellers and throw the wedding. Your spouse then waits for you at home.

Guns, your gang and land deals

After the second Bada Kaam, Bittu Hathiyaar wala (behind the theka on Sohna Road) sells a desi katta and a dunali; firing in the street sends people running and brings the police. After the third, Bhola Pehlwan's akhara lends you chele: they walk behind you, fight with you and everyone online can see them. After the fourth, Yadav Estates sells plots around the city; prices move every game day, so buy low, sell high, and collect rent.

Your first minute

Off the bus at Rajiv Chowk, Chintu Chor snatches your phone. Chase him (run with Shift or the full joystick) and knock him down: ₹1,000 and Chacha's old Khatara 800 are yours inside a minute and a half.

Always something to do

The Agla kaam strip at the top shows the next thing worth doing; tap GPS, or 🛺 ₹50 to take an auto there (the 🛺 on the GPS chip works for any target). Jobs back to back pay x1.5, x2, then x3. A small gift lands every two or three minutes. Menu → Khel has time trials, pothole dodge, stunt jumps on the flyover ramps and the golgappa challenge at Galleria Market, each with medals and a Top 10.

Wanted stars

Running people over, jacking cars and firing in the street add stars. Two stars bring the police, three put a naka on the road ahead. Lie low and the stars fade; caught with stars, the havaldar may take chai-paani instead of a trip to the thana.

Coming back

Come back after a while and you get full health and food, your login-calendar reward (day 7 paints your car gold), what your chai tapri or car wash earned while you were away (Menu → Dhanda, from the first Bada Kaam), and one tap to continue. Invite a friend from Menu → Dost bulao: when they finish their first kaam you both get a Bullet.

Batua: fights pay, and cost

Knock someone down and their wallet or purse falls on the road with a little cash: walk over it to take it (Bade Kaam enemies and Don bosses carry more). Get knocked down by a chhora and he grabs your batua before the ambulance comes.

Petrol and the police

Every car and bike burns petrol: fill up at Chaudhary Filling Station, Jai Hanuman Petroleum, Haryana Highway Fuels or Bhagwati Petrol Pump. Run dry and you push it, or call the petrol-wala bhaiya. If the police catch you, you are arrested and fined at the thana (or spend the night in the hawalaat if you are broke); your car stays yours.

Gali ke Don

A five-chapter story, one chapter a day, new every Monday. Someone calls you for help; accept and the boss and his chele come to the nearest street corner. Win all five to become this week's Gali ka Don.

Monsoon and floods

When it rains, roads in Huda City Centre, Sushant Lok, Sector 56 and Golf Course Extension fill with water. Wade, drive slowly or buy a boat. Watch out for the Jal Police.
